Week 8

Well they are definitely not just windy smiles Lewis has been charming us with proper smiles this week. He is also making lots of gurgling and cooing noises. He had a scan this week at the hospital to test for clicky hips, this seems to be a standard test that they do for breach babies, but all looked fine, so that was good. Lewis enjoys bathtime and Finlay likes to help wash him by tipping water all over him.

Finlay had his hair cut with his pal Ellen at a proper barbers this week (usually the lady who comes round to do Annie's hair at home does Finlay's as well). They both looked as pleased as punch with their new hair dos especially as they got a lollipop too. Nik despaired about the gel in Finlays hair though, reckoning he looked like a yob - there is worse to come Nik! Lewis is still a baldy apart from some fine fluffy hair at the back so doesn't have the hassle of barbers yet.

Finlay had a playdate at the other Finlay's house also this week. With 2 Finlays and a Finn it was a tad confusing but they had a great time playing outside in the sunshine. Lewis was so tired just watching all the bigger boys so he was quite happy lying on a rug in the bath while Finlay went to the toilet.

We had fabulous weather at the weekend, so we made the most of it in the garden getting the veggie patches finalised for planting. Lewis was quite happy looking up at the sky and sleeping in the sun while Finlay amused himself walking the plank and playing in the sandpit and playden. Sunday saw us have Helen and Gary and the Ross's come to visit.

Week 7

Annie got the all clear to drive by the doctor so we have been enjoying getting out and about and just in time too, because Nik had to go away with work for a couple of days. Annie and the 2 boys got on fine without Daddy, and Daddy enjoyed having a full nights sleep away.

We had a lovely trip to Haddo together, seeing four red squirrels, playing Pooh sticks and the usual feeding the ducks and a trip to the play park. Lewis is becoming much more alert and spent an hour on the kitchen table kicking and playing with Panda. And as a bonus we had two nights where Lewis slept right through from 9pm-ish to 6am-ish. Of course it didn't last but ho hum, he can do it. We even think there has been a smile or two this week and not just windy smiles.

The weekend saw us heading into Aberdeen for a shopping trip, Jumping Beans where Finlay tried his hand at Hip Hop and we rounded it off with lunch out at the home-made burger bar, where Finlay was very well behaved and ate well, while Lewis slept in a high chair and got lots of adoring looks from other diners.

After a huge milkshake Finlay still had energy so we went to the beach so Finlay could have a go with his roller-skates, and after a wee sleep Finlay bounced on next-door'strampoline and Lewis had a nice time lying on the bean-bag and sunbathing in the beautiful afternoon sun.

Week 6

Well Granny and Grandad headed homewards so we were left to it and have survived, hurrah! This week saw Finlay turning 3. On his birthday he got lots of gret presents including jigsaws (which he is getting very good at), and we got him a pair of roller-skaters... Mummy is getting more grey by the second.

There was great excitement when he had all his friends round for his Teletubby birthday party at the weekend. Nik recruited three other Dads to join him as Teletubbies and we are not sure who had the most fun, the little ones or the Daddies. Lewis was very happy nestled into Mummy in the sling all day.

Finlay had lots of fun with his friends playing pass-the-parcel, chasing a giant inflatable ball aroung the garden and all going down the slide on Finlay's den.

Also this week Lewis had his last home visit from the health visitor and now weighs 9lb 6oz. His hands are now uncurled and he is grabbing onto his blanket and Mummy's top. He is becoming much more alert during the day and likes just lying watching the world or at least Finlay.

Week 5

Into Month 2 already, and with the weather taking a turn for the better Lewis has been bombing along the railway line with Granny and Grandad. Most days he managed to sleep all the way into Newmachar and back. He needed the sleep because Lewis has been helping with all the housework or at least sleeping in the washinng basket while Mummy was trying to hang it up.

Lewis also went on a shopping trip to buy potatoes and grow bags ready for the garden and went grocery shopping, although Finlay has now decided he wants to sit in the trolley with Lewis (he hasn't been in the trolley for at least 6 months, normally wanting to walk).

On the garden theme at Jumping Beans they had to pretend to be garden animals so Finlay decided he wanted to be a snail. After some clever cardboard construction by Daddy, Finlay donned his snail shell and headed to Jumping Beans. Finlay got to demonstrate how to jump from hula-hoop to hula-hoop along the floor, like a frog-like snail!? Lewis also tried Finlay's shell on...

We also got creative and helped plant a willow tunnel at the Newmachar wildlife area. Hopefully by the time Lewis is ready to start school it will be a fully formed tunnel to clamber through.

To celebrate Lewis's arrival and an early Finlays 3rd birthday we were invited by Lewis's fairy godmother for a tea party with the triplets. Finlay had an absolute ball and decided to dress Lewis in a tiara and give him a wand poor fella.
