Month 17

This month started with a Dads camping trip at Roseisle, so Finlay got some time with Daddy doing boy things – building fires, dunes sledging and generally having lots of fun. All 10 kids with their Dads went on a Geocache hunt, and the children were so excited when they found the hidden "box of treasure". Just wait Daddy, next year Lewis will probably want to come too.

As part of the Jubilee celebrations Newmachar had a 24hr Sportathon, so we all got into the spirit with some Union Flag facepainting and Finlay had his nails painted red, white and blue (one to remind him of when he is older). The Teletubbie costumes were also donned for a 5k relay around Newmachar as part of a continuous 24hr relay, the kids loved it - but it was rather hot in the costumes.

Once again we did a parade down Union Street to celebrate all the charities in Aberdeen, so Annie played the fiddle whilst the boys made lots of noise with maracas. We went straight from there to Michelle and Steve's summer party so we were all ready for an early night after that.

We then headed off to a toddler break at the Hilton in Coylumbridge near Aviemore, the things you do when you have kids! We started with a charity walk raising money for the Scouts. Finlay walked 5k in total we were very proud of him and the boys looked very cool in their oversized T-shirts.

We went to see the Olympic Torch relay in Aviemore and Grantown where Finlay was most taken by the medals they were giving out. A trip to Landmark saw us having great fun on the water slides, Finlay even got Annie going down the really steep one with him. After all the excitement we were glad of a sit down together in a big log chair. The rest of our holiday was filled with cycling up to Loch Morlich and doing a route around the Loch finding geocaches as we cycled around, and a treasure trail around Aviemore and lots of sessions in the swimming pool and soft play centre at the hotel. Each evening there was entertainment too and the boys enjoyed the magician, disco and a clown.

We also managed to fit in a trip to Aberdeen Highland Games, Portsoy Boat festival where Finlay got to sail and cycle and a music festival in Pitmedden. Lewis has finally got teeth and is showing everyone his two bottom teeth, they were quickly followed by the two top teeth.
