Month 20

We had a trip to Balmoral Games courtesy of Nik's work and were treated to breakfast and lunch in their corporate tent. The boys looked very smart in their kilts and got asked for a lot of photos by tourists. They even appeared in the Evening Express paper. The following day we headed to the Sheltie Stakes a local charity event racing Shetland Ponies. We placed some bets but didn’t win anything, Finlay had more luck fishing for ducks at one of the stalls. The whole day was great fun and the weather was amazing. The weather in September definitely made up for the dire summer and we had several trips to play on the beach and have ice-cream.

Annie was promoting bumblebees at the Science Festival introducing members of the public to BeeWatch and how to get involved. Lewis wasn’t sure what to make of the massive bumblebee costume that Chris was wearing, Annie luckily just had to wear a bumblebee T-shirt and headband. Nik in the meantime took the boys to JoJo's birthday party where they enjoyed playing on the soft play items. We also went to other science festival events and Finlay and Lewis especially liked a talking robot, giant bubbles and the reading and rhyme-time bus.

Annie had her second part of her Baby Yoga qualification in Edinburgh, and now has a Diploma in baby yoga.

Finlay had an playdate with Amy and Leah from his old nursery and Lewis got to play with Hannah and Adam. We were then treated to a Chinese takeaway which Finlay thought was rather a novelty.

We had a trip to Crathes Castle to meet many of Annie's old CEH colleagues and their wee ones, and they all had fun exploring the woods, playing in the play park, and launching water rockets. We also met Christina at Crathes Castle and did the autumn trail around the woods. Finlay and Christina walked round often holding hands as they have since they started walking, and they enjoyed looking for toadstools and other things. Continuing our autumn theme we headed to Pitmedden Apple Harvest, cycling there with the boys on the back of the bikes.
