Week 17 & 18

Lewis had his 4 months jabs this week, last ones till he is 1 year old –yippee says Mummy. Lewis and Finlay let Mummy and Daddy have a night out to see Queen – we will rock you at the theatre. And to tire Lewis out so he went to sleep easily for our babysitter we went to baby yoga which he absolutely loved and Annie could remember all the songs and actions from when she did it with Finlay. The weekend saw Nik recovering from a night at the beer festival and looking after both boys while Annie played the fiddle in an Aberdeen street parade. Lewis and Finlay joined in playing bells and the tambourine to some traditional Scottish folk tunes. The afternoon saw a play date at Ellen’s and Josephs. Then the Sunday we headed to an agricultural/estate show which was fabulous. Activities included tractor rides to see the cows and sheep, seeing the baby animals, having a go at milking a cow (a plastic one), horse and cart rides, sheep shearing, sheep dog trials and so much more. After 4.5 hours we were all shattered.

This week saw another trip to baby yoga which Lewis loved. He also luckily seems to love watching Finlay at his swimming lesson from his viewpoint of the car seat at the side of the pool. At the weekend we went to a Camping and Caravanning show locally, and although we said on the way there we didn’t need anything we came back with an awning for the campervan. A Dad and toddler camping trip followed in our field, and despite a soggy start all went well and Finlay and Nik had great fun. Annie and Lewis on the other hand enjoyed their home comforts and an early night.

Week 15 & 16

After our weekend down south we had a quiet pottery week this week. The weekend saw us taking both boys swimming which they loved and looking at tractors… more to follow on that one.

Lewis likes to be awake at baby and toddlers group, the sling is certainly coming in very handy. Lewis is putting everything into his mouth he can grab hold off including, in a moment of patriotism, the Union Jack.

He is also showing the first signs of teething, and we are now having to wear bibs because he is soaking his tops with dribble and drool. He is also now wearing his 3 to 6 months clothes and can be seen here sporting his "Hungry Caterpillar" outfit. Lewis also likes the ball-pool, as does Finlay.

The start of the next week saw a poorly Finlay with some non-specific viral rash thingy, so inevitably Lewis got it at the end of the week too but thankfully not quite so bad.

We had a lovely lunch at Judes house at the weekend, Finlay was rather taken by all the stairs and what you could roll down them, which luckily didn’t include himself!

We also went out to Aboyne to see Emily, Mike and Khaya. Finlay had an absolute ball playing with Khaya on their bouncy castle and running round with David, Peter and Laura. Lewis enjoyed gawping around at everything and even had a shot on the bouncy castle too. Lewis has also treated us to his first chuckle, very cute.

Week 14

This week Lewis got to visit a lot of his future playmates, baby Holly, baby Amelie and baby Tristan. So like Finlay he is going to be outnumbered by girls.

He also had his first baby sensory class which he seemed to enjoy though Annie was less sure of the rock and roll music. Think we will be sticking with baby yoga. We also went to get weighed and Lewis now weighs 12lb 5oz, so happily plodding along the 25% line.

Finlay is loving his baby brother even more now he interacts with him, and gave Lewis a cuddle when it got to a scarey bit in the Incredibles film.

Finlay also loved showing Lewis his bed in the campervan. We had a long weekend away to Sedbergh in the Yorkshire Dales for a friends 40th birthday. Finlay had a great time at a BBQ and danced his cotton socks off at a ceilidh - gotta show the Southerners how to do it. There was also a village fete and Finlay got to dress up as a fireman and use a hose, bounce on the bouncy castle and ride a donkey. Finally, Finlay got to enter a running race and a bean bag on head race - for which he devised his own tactics!

Week 13

Lewis has discovered his hands and loves playing with them, when he is not sticking them in his mouth that is. He also loves smiling away at anyone that smiles at him and sometimes looks like he is smirking.

Lewis went for his first ever swim, with Finlay. We went to the small warm pool and he was very contented looking at everything especially the bright lights. He only cried when we got out of the pool but was perfectly happy again when he had some milk. He also had his second lot of jabs this week and was very brave and had no ill effects.

The weekend was full of literary events as part of Aberdeen "Word" festival. We went to "words in the wild" where Finlay got to find things in a wild garden to make a bookmark and then got to listen to the Gruffalo. And then we went to a bookbug session full of singing, rhymes and stories.

We also went to a army charity fayre at Banchory where Finlay loved listening to the pipers, jumping on the bouncy castle, and completing the obstacle course!
